Head on this 3-days hike up Mount Meru starting off the trail with a walking safari spotting buffaloes, Giraffes, Baboons, Etc before getting soaked up with this beautiful but strenuous trail enjoying the best views of the Kilimanjaro. On this hike, You will overnight in huts. This hike is mostly done to pre-acclimatize & get ready for the kill but it is a joy on its own.

Day 1 : Pick up from the airport

Arusha

On this day you will be picked up from the airport either the Kilimanjaro or Arusha airport, will then drive to Tulia spa & boutique hotel once you arrive & settled in, your guide will arrive briefly after to brief you on the hike, what to expect day by day as well as checking if you have all necessary gears for the hike.

Day 2 : Arusha/Moshi to Momella Gate 1500 m – Miriakamba Hut 2500

Mount Meru

The tour will starts soon after breakfast. Your guide will pick you up and drive you to the Ngongongare gate. At the gate, your guide will do all paperwork before driving along Arusha National Park with some stops for wildlife spotting. Reach Momella gate for a final checkup of porters, and luggage.
Afterward, 3 days of Mt Meru trekking will start with a pole (slowly slowly) pace, the first day is more or less similar to a walking safari, on the way you may spot some animal species like reticulated Giraffes, Zebras, Waterbuck, and Buffaloes. Since the hiking is inside the park an armed ranger will be escorting you to the camp.

You may take a long or short route but this will depend on the time of starting, during the hike way you will pass across Ngarenanyuki River and a beautiful waterfall at the base of Meru Mountain. You will possibly arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2500 m) before sunset.

Day 3 : Miriakamba Hut 2500 m – Saddle Hut 3500 m

Mount Meru

After breakfast, continues with Mt Meru trekking along the steep path in the forest zone, spotting various birds and animals along the way. Reach Saddle Hut situated in the alpine desert zone for hot lunch (but this will depend on your pace). After lunch and some rest, you have an option of an acclimatization hike at Little Meru (3,820 m), this is a good hike with some great views of great Meru & the area around & it makes you ready for a night attempt on the summit the main Meru Mountain.
Early dinner will be served on this day so that you can have enough time to rest before your midnight summit attempt. Go to sleep as early as possible possibly around 19:00 hrs.

Day 4 : Saddle Hut 3500 m – Meru Summit Socialist Peak 4566 m – Arusha

Mount Meru

Wake up at 00:30 after midnight for a lite meal before you start your final push to the summit of the fifth mountain in Africa. On the final day of your 3 days of Mt Meru trekking, you will start by trading on the steep grade path up to Rhino point at (3800 m) and then reach Cobra point at (4,350 m). From there the trekking will be on a rocky ridge in between the Crater and the inner cliffs of Meru Mountain. Reach the summit during the first rays of the sun from the East (4,566 m). During clear days, morning can be the best time to view his Majesty Kilimanjaro Mountain, the total cliffs of the crater drop intensely at almost 1000 feet or more. If you made it to the summit a certificate for Meru trekking (4,566 m) will be presented to you & those who did the acclimatization hike at little Meru will also be rewarded a certificate.
